Students write three interesting facts about themselves, mingle to share one fact with three different classmates, and try to find people with similar facts.
Procedure
- Students write down three interesting facts about themselves.
- Students get up and mingle. They tell one fact to three different classmates. When a fact matches, the classmate acknowledges it: This happened to me too when... or I have two big brothers too.
- Students continue mingling, trying to find as many classmates as possible who share similar facts.
- Students return to seats and share what they learned with the person sitting next to them.
- Volunteers speak to the whole class about interesting information they learned about classmates.
Tips
- Excellent ice-breaker for adolescent or adult classes.
- Begin by sharing three interesting facts about yourself and asking if anyone shares them.
- Facts can be past experiences, hobbies, family details, ambitions, tastes, things that annoy or scare you.
- Works well for large multilevel classes as everyone participates simultaneously.
