Students post pictures of food or drink they like, write questions about each other's pictures, and answer them — practising food vocabulary and question forms.
Procedure
- Set up the task on your platform of choice (forum, Padlet, or in class). Post a picture of a dish or drink you like.
- Task 1 (Stimulus): Students each post one question about your picture. You answer their questions and note them in a separate document, correcting language. Set a deadline.
- Task 2 (Interaction): Share the corrected question list. Each student posts their own food/drink picture. They must post questions to at least three other students about their pictures, using the corrected questions as models. They answer questions about their own picture.
- At the end, post a summary of all items. Students answer a wrap-up question: "Which was your favourite picture?" / "Plan a meal for friends using items from our task" / "If you could only eat two things from this week's pictures, what would they be?"
Tips
- Works asynchronously over several days online, or adapted for a single in-class session
- In class: display pictures, students "post" questions on paper or a digital noticeboard (Padlet), then share their own phone photos
- Clear language focus on food vocabulary, question forms, with error correction built in
- Adaptable to other topics: favourite clothing, books, films, souvenirs
