Strip Story

Groups receive jumbled sentence strips and negotiate the correct order without showing them.

Procedure

  1. Cut a short text into one sentence per strip.
  2. Give each group member one or more strips.
  3. Students read their strips aloud (no showing).
  4. Group discusses and agrees on the correct order.
  5. Lay out strips and compare with original.

Tips

  • Choose texts with clear cohesion markers (pronouns, linkers, time words) — these become the discussion focus.
