Find Someone Who

Students mingle asking questions to find classmates who match specific criteria.

Also called: Mingle Survey, Mingle Grid.

Procedure

1. Prepare a worksheet with 8-12 "Find someone who..." prompts.
2. Students mingle, asking yes/no or wh- questions to find matches.
3. When a match is found, record the person's name and one follow-up detail.
4. Set a time limit (8-10 min) or a target (first to complete 8 wins).
5. Share findings with the class — highlight surprising discoveries.

Tips

• Require a follow-up question for each match so students go beyond yes/no.
• Ban asking the same person more than twice to force wider mingling.
• Tailor prompts to the lesson topic for integrated vocabulary practice.
