Rotating Writers Dictation
writinglisteningaccuracypracticesmall-groupmedium prep10-15 min
Groups take turns writing a dictated sentence, rotating the writer each round.
Procedure
- Arrange students in small groups with one shared piece of paper.
- Teacher dictates a gapped sentence.
- The current writer writes the sentence and fills in the gap.
- The writer holds up the sentence for the teacher to check.
- Rotate the writer for the next sentence.
- Continue until all students have written.
Tips
- For a faster variant, each student writes only one word before passing the paper.
- Keep sentences short enough that the writing turn stays quick and pressure stays fun.
