Repeated Reading

Students reread the same short passage 3-4 times, increasing speed and accuracy each time.

Procedure

  1. Give students a short passage (50-200 words) at their level.
  2. Student reads aloud to a partner; partner times and notes errors.
  3. Read the same passage again — aim for faster, smoother delivery.
  4. Read a third time.
  5. Compare times and error counts across the three readings.

Tips

  • Like 4-3-2 for reading. Partner's job is to track time and give encouragement, not correct during reading.
