Quiz Your Classmate

After reading, students write quiz questions for classmates and test each other.

Procedure

1. Students read or listen to a text.
2. Each student writes 3-5 questions about it (mix of types: T/F, open, inference).
3. Students circulate, swapping quizzes with classmates.
4. Answer each other's quizzes, then return for "marking."
5. Discuss any disagreements.

Tips

• Writing good questions requires deeper comprehension than answering them.
• Encourage inference questions, not just recall.
