Interview the Character

One student sits in character from a text; classmates ask questions and the "character" responds.
Procedure
- After reading a text, one student volunteers to be a character.
- The student sits in the "hot seat" as that character.
- Classmates prepare and ask questions.
- The character answers consistently with the text but can improvise beyond it.
- Discuss: what did we learn about the character that wasn't explicitly in the text?
Tips
- Unlike regular Hot Seat (vocabulary guessing), this is text-based character exploration.
- The improvisation beyond the text is where deeper interpretation happens.
