Partners sit with a barrier between them; one describes or instructs, the other follows using only language.
Procedure
- Seat pairs with a physical barrier (folder, book) between them.
- Give one student a picture, arrangement, or set of instructions.
- That student describes/instructs; the other follows (draws, arranges objects, etc.).
- Remove barrier and compare results.
- Switch roles with new material.
Tips
- Use real objects (blocks, toys, stationery) for lower levels.
- The barrier forces total reliance on language.
